Gary Sinise Foundation Hosts Official Send-off Celebration for its Snowball Express Program
The holidays can be especially challenging for grieving families of fallen military heroes. On December 8, 2018, the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Snowball Express program will host a five-day experience for 1,722 children of the fallen, including their surviving parent or guardian. This therapeutic retreat will offer fun and inspiring programs, encouraging critical peer-to-peer support for these families.
Patients from Primary Children’s and Shriners Hospitals will be treated to a unique opportunity on Saturday when they board a Boeing 757 and depart to their final destination—Santa’s Winter Wonderland. The plane will taxi to the Delta hangar, which will be transformed into a magical place where the children can enjoy crafts, have their photo taken by a jet engine and visit with Santa—who will have a special gift selected just for them. Santa’s elves, sports team mascots and cheerleaders—and the Coca-Cola Bear—will be on hand to join in on the festivities.
